Our Typical Day

Our Typical Day

Book a look around our nursery

At Family Tree, no day is really ‘typical’ but we strive to plan each day to ensure each child is helped to grow and be nurtured. Everything that we do, from the mealtimes to playtime, is designed to develop the child’s confidence, curiosity, imagination and knowledge.
An example day in the life of a child:

07:30 am

Opening Time

Our nursery opens! We arrive early, ready to start our busy day.

7:30-8:30

Breakfast

Breakfast is served: enjoy the selection of early morning meals we have on offer

8:30-10:00

Free Play

With your child playing with other children and expressing themselves and learning at their own pace.

10:00-10:30

Snack Time/Circle Time

Circle time with activities ranging from singing to interactive games followed by a quick snack to boost their energy before lunch time. We offer fresh fruits and snack served with milk and or water daily to children. Talks around where our foods come from, where they are grown and how they taste, as well as what we like or dislike often happen at snack time.

10:30-11:00

Structured Learning

Child's key worker will plan an activity around the child's interest to help develop the different areas of learning as well as focus on child’s next steps.

11:00–12:00

Garden Time/Forest School

Don’t we all love garden time! Our facilities include an outdoor area for each class, but we also go out for Forest school twice a week to learn about lots of different skills that we may not learn indoors! We learn about exploring, social and communication skills; as well as learning about safety and boundaries.

12:00-12:30

Lunch Time

The children can have their main meals and pudding at the nursery, so we ensure that the food is nutritious as well as not boring! Plenty of fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and protein are cooked fresh on site by our own chef each day. We cater for all types of allergies and intolerance; in addition to religious and cultural needs.

12:30-2:00

Sleep Time

It’s time to rest and get back all the energy after a long day playing and at the end of a big meal.

2:00-2:30

Activities & Sensory Play

After a well-deserved rest, it’s time for more learning and playing. The kids get involve in group activities, garden time and circle time. We enjoy messy play, construction, role play and many more.

3:00-3:30

Tea Time

Time for another selection of delicious health food for tea; made by our very own chef. Sometimes the children can’t wait to get stuck in, helping the chef prepare the meals as they mix, bake and serve (who said anything about making a mess!).

4:00–5:00

Outdoor Free Flow

Another opportunity to get creative, role-playing or creating some beautiful artwork. We often also reflect on the day at Family Tree and plan for what the next day’s adventures might involve.

5:00-6:30

Tidy Up Time and Home Time

After a long day of fun, learning and play it's time to go home We all help to tidy up while we wait for our families to pick us up. A member of staff will share with parents information about their day and update you with their progress.
